SENIOR INTERNSHIP

The Research Internship program at BASIS is unique among public high schools.

Most students have the option of graduating at the end of their 11th Grade year with sufficient credits for admission to ASU, NAU, or UofA. Students who continue their studies in 12th Grade and successfully complete the required Capstone Courses taught during the first two trimesters will graduate with Honors. These students also must complete the planning for their third trimester research project/internship, with a faculty member serving as an advisor.

Students who finish the Capstone Courses and who complete the third trimester of 12th Grade will graduate with High Honors. This requires that they intern at a public or private sector institution, or enroll in an external study program. The internship or study program may be located either in the U.S. or abroad and should be related to the course of study that the student intends to pursue after graduating from BASIS.

The Senior Capstone Courses and Internship are the culmination of a rigorous academic program, and are intended to give students the perspective and real-world skills they will need to succeed in college. The Capstone Courses and Internship occur late in the student’s high school career to ensure that they have the knowledge to benefit from their final BASIS experience.
